Each month, we will be recognizing one male and one female US Youth Soccer Player of the Month, presented by Olive Garden, whose accomplishments on and off the field stick out among the rest.
The players who are selected will represent a balance of athletic achievement, sportsmanship and citizenship.
Examples of these athletes' characteristics include:
- Impactful or notable in-game performance
- Displays good sportsmanship and the promotion of teamwork
- Community service
- Superior academic achievement
- Overcoming personal obstacles
While great performances in the game of soccer are appreciated, it's important to note that accomplishments off the field are valued just as much as those achieved on the field.
This month's honoree is...
Male Player of the Month
Anthony from Akron, Ohio
Anthony is a well-rounded athlete who excels as a center back for his club soccer team, Internationals SC. He is also a standout hockey player, has won multiple events at his district track and field meet and is a successful swimmer in several events. When he’s not enjoying competing in sports, Anthony manages his time well and is a straight-A student with a GPA over 4.0. He was chosen as one of his school's ambassadors and is respected by both students and teachers. Anthony also finds time to volunteer for the cancer foundation, “Life Is Good No Matter What,” and gets involved in the foundation’s events. Anthony gives his all in everything that he does, whether on the field or track, or in the pool or classroom — and sets a great example for his peers to follow.
