GREENVILLE, S.C. (July 11, 2014) – The 2014 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup continued in Greenville, S.C. with the 40 Under-13 through Under-17 Boys and Girls teams taking the field for the second day of play at MESA Sports Complex.

The tournament takes place July 10-13 and features US Youth Soccer teams from 20 different State Associations competing for a national title.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Game Highlights – Day 2:

Under-13 Boys: HG Eagles (CA-S) 2-1 CASA CAPA 2K United (PA-E)
HG Eagles move up the standings after two straight wins. The Under-13 Boys team from Cal South defeated CASA CAPA 2K United from Eastern Pennsylvania 2-1. CASA CAPA began the match with the lead after a first half goal by Garrett Keister. HG Eagles recovered in the second half with an Alexander Escobedo goal in the 46th minute, and claimed the win in the 51st minute with a Nicholas Prata goal.

Under-14 Boys: Team Evanston Premier (IL) 3-3 Laredo Heat 00 Boys Red (TX-S)
Team Evanston Premier from Illinois had a big comeback against U-14 Boys team Laredo Heat from South Texas to end their match in a 3-3 tie. Laredo was up 3-0 by the 37th minute, after two first half goals by Alberto Martinez and Nicolas Paez, and a second half goal by Eduardo Vasquez. Johnathan Chavez got Team Evanston on the board in the 42nd minute, and Deniz Gundogdu put them in the match in the 49th minute. With less than 10 minutes until the final whistle, Jonathan Meneses found the equalizer for Laredo, and the game concluded in the 3-3 draw.

Under-15 Boys: SASA Spirits 99 (IL) 0-1 Huskies Soccer Academy (TX-S)
Walter McNeal’s late goal helped Huskies Soccer Academy win their second preliminary match. The U-15 Boys South Texas side defeated SASA Spirits 99 from Illinois, after nearly an entire scoreless match. In the 73rd minute of play, McNeal found the back of the net and gave Huskies a 1-0 victory.

Under-16 Boys: CISC Velocity 98B (AK) 2-0 FC Europa Samba (PA-E)
Under-16 Boys team CISC Velocity from Alaska is proving they’re a tough contender after winning their second straight match in round robin play. They defeated Eastern PA team FC Europa Samba 2-0, with a pair of first half goals by Talon Stanley.

Under-17 Boys: LV Neon 97 Boys (NV) 2-1 Warriors (CT)
Nevada team, LV Neon, remains undefeated after beating U-17 Boys team, Warriors, 2-1. The Nevada side began the match with back to back goals by Genaro Corona in the 10th and 12th minutes. Gianluca Perotti put the Connecticut Warriors on the board late in the 78th minute, but they couldn’t level the match in the final minutes giving LV Neon the win.

Under-13 Girls: Team Elmhurst Select (IL) 0-1 Sting East 01G Gray (TX-N)
Under-13 Girls team Sting East Gray from North Texas posed a 1-0 win against Team Elmhurst Select from Illinois. Both teams tried to find the back of the net in the first half but had no luck. Emma Hawkins broke the stalemate in the 43rd minute, and ultimately gave her team the game winner.

Under-14 Girls: West Coast FC United White (CA-S) 3-0 HVAA Freedom (PA-E)
West Coast FC United White from Cal South got a 3-0 win against U-14 Girls team Huntingdon Valley AA Freedom from Eastern PA. Callie Williams and Natalie Crapo gave West Coast a 2-0 lead after only ten minutes of play, and Kaylin Martin made it 3-0 in the 44th minute.

Under-15 Girls: Warren United Blazers Black (IL) 1-2 KFC Crush 99 Azzurri (TN)
After being down 1-0 at the half, KFC Crush Azzurri from Tennessee came back to defeat Warren United Blazers Black from Illinois 2-1. Abby Swanson gave Warren United the lead in the 29th minute. McKenzie Ellenberg tied the match in the 52nd minute and Azzurri’s Kathryn (Carter) Anderson got the advantage in the 55th minute.

Under-16 Girls: Lady Nomad (NV) 2-1 Nashua World Cup (NH)
Lady Nomad from Nevada got a 2-1 result against U-16 Girls team Nashua World Cup from New Hampshire. Both teams went into halftime scoreless. Lady Nomad’s Mackenzie Reynolds scored first in the 42nd minute, and Caitlyn Rotonnelli recovered quickly for Nashua World Cup in the 49th minute. Megan Sando broke the tie in the 61st minute and ultimately gave her team a 2-1 win.

Under-17 Girls: FC Evansville Shooting Stars (IN) 0-5 GSA Force FC 97 White (TX-S)
South Texas team, GSA Force, forcefully defeated U-17 Girls team FC Evansville Shooting Stars from Indiana 5-0. Two first half goals were scored by Megan Allen and Sabrina Pescatore. The second half saw a pair of goals by Grace Burns and Analise Watson also added a tally.
