FRISCO, Texas (June 13, 2014) - The 2014 US Youth Soccer Region II Presidents Cup continued its second day of play at the Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kan. The tournament’s 71 Boys and Girls teams, in the Under-13 through Under-17 age groups from US Youth Soccer Region II (Midwest), will compete from June 12-15 in hopes of advancing to the 2014 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup

Preliminary games will take place from Thursday, June 12 through Saturday, June 14. Regional champions will be crowned following final matches on Sunday, June 15, and will advance to the National Presidents Cup which takes place July 10-13 in Greenville, S.C.  .

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

Match Highlights:

Under-13 Girls: NWC Alliance G00 Black (OH-S) 2-1 Hoosier FC Elite Wolves (IN)
Early goals in the first five minutes of play helped NWC Alliance Black defeat Hoosier FC Elite Wolves 2-1. Grace Sullivan scored instantly in the first minute of the game, and Kerrigan Brown followed up in the 4th minute for a 2-0 lead. Jalyn Kastenschmidt put Hoosier FC on the board in the 43rd minute, but NWC Alliance’s swift goals ultimately gave them the 2-1 victory.

Under-14 Boys: Team Evanston Premier (IL) 3-0 KFJ 00 Classic Red (KY)
Team Evanston Premier (IL) defeated KFJ 00 Classic Red (KY) with one first half goal and two second half goals. Reed Schaefer scored for Team Evanston in the 6th minute. Johnathan Chavez added a second in the 56th minute, and Jonathan Meneses closed the scoring with a goal in the 62nd minute. Team Evanston has won two straight games and is guaranteed a spot in the finals with one more win.

Under-15 Girls: Missouri Rush SC Nero (MO) 4-1 Kings Hammer Soccer Club (KY)
Missouri Rush SC Nero (MO) got their second straight win after defeating Kings Hammer Soccer Club (KY) 4-1. Kings Hammer started off on the right foot, getting the first lead in the 20th minute after a Taylor Tolle goal. Olivia Jordan however, found the equalizer three minutes later, tying the match at halftime. Missouri Rush came back energized in the second half, and finished the match with three additional goals by Jordan Crandall in the 53rd, Olivia Gonzales in the 63rd and Emma Siemen in the 78th minute.

Under-16 Boys: Illinois FC Orange (IL) 3-1 Dynamo 98 Katner (IN)
Illinois FC Orange (IL) defeated Dynamo 98 Katner (IN) 3-1. Aaron Penick got an early goal in the 10th minute, and Jordan Allen added a second for Illinois in the 40th minute, giving them a 2-0 lead at the half. Arad Mor scored a late goal for Illinois in the 78th minute. Drew Bevelhimer was able to put Dynamo on the board in the last minute of play, but Illinois got the 3-1 win.

Under-17 Girls: Hawthorn Woods Elite Soccer Club (IL) 3-0 Brookings FC U17G Select (SD)
Hawthorn Woods Elite (IL) got a 3-0 victory after defeating Brookings FC Select (SD) with a first half goal and two second half goals. Jackie Lung first put Hawthorn in the lead in the 12th minute. Lexi Miranda found the back of the net in the 52nd minute, and Mikayla Abbeduto finished the match with a goal in the 75th minute.
