PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. (March 30, 2021) — The US Youth Soccer Piedmont Conference’s 2020-21 season continued for the 13U Boys and Girls age groups over the weekend, as 15 Georgia and South Carolina teams competed at MOBA Academy Soccer Complex in Peachtree City, Ga.

All of the matchups saw teams put in strong performances while attempting to move up in the Piedmont Conference standings as we close in on the end of the conference season.

In the 13U Boys age group, South Carolina United FC 08 (SC) picked up two victories over the weekend to move into third place within the division. SCUFC 08 has currently scored the most goals in the age group this conference season with 35 scored in nine games played. The two victories over the weekend give SCUFC 08 a shot at the division title with its final two games being against Tormenta FC 08 (SC) and Charleston SC 08 Premier (SC), the teams currently holding first and second place in the 13U Boys Premier I Division, respectively. SCUFC 08 coach Emmet Maas talked about what he attributes to his team’s two wins over the weekend.

“We have been training at a very high level so far this spring,” Maas said. “Our players are staying very focused and have been able to incorporate the things we are working on into our game play.”

Maas also talked about what it means to his team to have the success that they have had and what it means to be a part of the Piedmont Conference.

“Our players and parents are dedicated to our team, and it is very satisfying when the effort they put in is rewarded with success,” Maas said. “We are fortunate to be part of a special group that has the potential to compete in this league.

“Our players benefit from the opportunity to play against strong competition. They are motivated and happy to play in the Piedmont Conference.”

The next Piedmont Conference event will be on April 10-11 at John B. Lewis Soccer Complex in Ashville, N.C. The event will feature 16 teams as the Georgia teams travel in to compete against the North Carolina teams.
