GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (March 30, 2021) — The US Youth Soccer Midwest Conference had a busy weekend, which included five divisions kicking off their seasons.

The 16U Boys Premier II Division had the largest slate of games, with four games played over the weekend at SportPort International in Maryland Heights, Mo. The games kicked off Saturday afternoon, when Sporting STL Academy-Collico (MO) edged Midwest United FC 05 Royal (MI), 3-2, in an exciting game, while KCSG Academy 05 (MO) defeated Indiana Elite 2005 Premier Boys (IN), 3-0. The participants swapped opponents for games on Sunday morning, when Indiana Elite 2005 Premier Boys (IN) defeated Sporting STL Academy-Collico (MO), 2-1, and KCSG Academy 05 (MO) got its second shutout victory, winning 4-0 against Midwest United FC 05 Royal (MI).

KCSG coach Jeff Davis was very pleased with his team’s performance over the weekend.

“I think the boys performed at a high level. We were happy with the outcome against two very good teams,” Davis said. “We have focused individually on their roles within the team function, as well as the partnerships on the field in the attacking and defensive areas.”

Elsewhere in the Midwest Conference, the 18U Boys First Division White played its first games of the Spring 2021 season. MFJ 03B Navy (MI) made the most of a trip to St. Louis, playing three opponents over three days at the Creve Coeur Soccer Complex. The Michigan side got started Friday night against Unified Soar Academy 03 (MO), winning 4-1. The following day, it secured its second victory with a 1-0 win over Alliance FC Academy 03 (MO). MFJ 03B Navy (MI) wrapped up its road trip in Missouri with a 3-1 loss to LFA Phillips 03 (MO) on Sunday morning.

Stuart Collins, coach of MFJ 03B Navy (MI), was very pleased with their triple-header weekend to start the season.

“We were well prepared from the perspective of having a clear picture of how we wanted to play and how we could be successful,” Collins said. “I am proud of the boys and the quality of performance all weekend. They played on their terms which is all we can ask for.”
