FRISCO, Texas (May 21, 2018) — US Youth Soccer is proud to announce that Boise, Idaho, and the Idaho Youth Soccer Association will host the 2019 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships as part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series, the country's oldest and most prestigious national youth soccer tournament. The games will take place at the Simplot Sports Complex.

“We are looking forward to working with Idaho Youth Soccer to make this event happen,” US Youth Soccer West Region General Manager Marley Wilson said. “We have confidence that Simplot Sports Complex is a perfect stage to host this significant competition.”

The Far West Regional Championships will attract more than 220 boys and girls teams, in the 13U through 19U age groups, from the 14 US Youth Soccer State Associations that make up US Youth Soccer West Region (Alaska, Arizona, California North, California South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming). Regional winners will earn a berth to the 2019 US Youth Soccer National Championships.

Boise is a well-known host for the Far West Regional Championships as the city hosted the event in 2016, 2015, 2011 and 2006.

“We are proud to be hosting this great event yet again,” Idaho Youth Soccer Executive Director Craig Warner said. “An event of this magnitude doesn’t just run itself. It takes an army of volunteers and staff, and Boise families have that covered. They love their soccer here and take every opportunity to be close to the action.”

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series gives US Youth Soccer teams the opportunity to showcase their soccer skills against the best competition in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play.

Annually, the National Championship Series provides the nation’s top collegiate coaches with the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country.

“This is the teams' reward for getting past the first round [of the National Championship Series]. They will be facing off against the best teams in the 14 West Region State Associations with the hope that they travel to the pinnacle of youth soccer, the National Championships, as well as qualifying for the US Youth Soccer National League, so it’s sure to be a very competitive event and a fun one to watch.”
