Position Summary
Reporting to the Technical Director, The Manager of Coaching Education provides leadership, strategic planning and administration for all aspects of coaching education within the Association
Minimum Requirements
US Soccer “A” License
US Soccer Grassroots Instructor License
Bachelor’s degree
Strong commitment to diversity in coaching
3-5 years’ experience in the following areas:
- Personnel Management including recruitment and supervision of contract coaching positions
- Budgetary planning and controls
- Administration including member services, program scheduling and inter-departmental collaboration
Desired Competencies & Responsibilities
Oversee all facets of the Coaching Education Program, and work in conjunction with the Technical Director to establish and achieve the Program’s objectives
Work collaboratively with colleagues and units within the State Office, including but not limited to Marketing, Member Services, Finance, Operations and CEO
Establish a culture of excellence for the contract coaching staff, providing them with the necessary resources, support and oversight required to meet the Association’s CE
Program objectives. This will include the identification, selection and training of CED instructors
Be a dynamic communicator who is able to teach courses as an instructor and motivate our membership to become more involved in VYSA Coaching Education Programs
Ability to manage the growth of key VYSA initiatives from a coaching education perspective. These initiatives include Diversity in Coaching, Recreational and Futsal CE, Summer Residential Player Camp and more
Ability to keep abreast of US Soccer regulatory CE changes and ensure compliance with requirements by reviewing all relevant documents and determining impact of changes on VYSA CE programs.
Possess the skills necessary to manage all aspects of CE department administration including but not limited to:
- Scheduling of courses with member clubs
- Assignment of instructors
- Financial control of instructor paysheets
- Updating to VYSA CE website
- Scheduling of fields, classrooms, hotels as required
Successfully work with VYSA Marketing Department to aid in the promotion of coaching education courses throughout clubs, leagues and other organizations of VYSA. Assist Marketing Dept in the production of CE marketing and other materials (brochures, manuals, evaluation forms, etc.) supporting technical and coach education and training as it pertains to players, coaches, parents and clubs. Provide monthly CE articles for VYSA’s e-newsletter Touchline
Ability to work with the Technical Director on ancillary duties that will further the development of the game and/or other projects required by VYSA as directed by the Board of Directors, applicable committees or the Executive Director.
