This individual will be expected to support in the execution and delivery of ASA Leagues, Cups, and Events that may include but not limited to planning, scheduling, administrative oversight, and other duties as assigned. This will include providing superior customer service abilities, understanding of ASA league and events structure. Provide support during ASA sponsored activities and/or events which may require working evenings or weekends. POSITION TITLE: Competition Support Specialist

DEPARTMENT / DIVISION: Operations

REPORTS TO: Director Leagues/Events

POSITION PURPOSE: This full-time position will provide administrative, and operations support to Leagues, Cups, and events. Will provide support in preparing reports as well as daily office responsibilities including administrative support to the Director of Leagues/Events/Cups.

MINIMUM SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Community Programming, Sports Management or equivalent experience preferred
  • Results Oriented; Strives to exceed minimum standards with a willingness to step outside of role to assist in other roles
  • 3 years or more experience in League Management/Support
  • Strong organizational skills
  • 3 years or more experience in supporting events and/or event management
  • Knowledge of youth soccer or Arizona Soccer Association (ASA) structure a plus
  • Ability to develop collaborative and consultative relationships
  • Excellent Communication skills, verbal and written
  • Conflict Resolution, Key Decision Making, Proper Planning and being accountable for deadlines.

JOB DUTIES

1. Responsible for managing league, cup, and event discipline processes.

2. Support development and implement of injury reporting and tracking

3. Assist in preparation of monthly reporting

4. Support operational planning and execution of leagues, cups, and events.

5. Support development of staffing schedules for leagues, cups, and events

6. Provide first level customer service for ASA membership

Required Conduct

The Competition Support Specialist shall conduct him/herself in a responsible, moral, and professional manner.

In expressing personal, political, or religious beliefs or positions, the Competition Support Specialist shall make it clear that it is his/her personal belief, and he/she shall not refer to any position of the State Association and shall not reference any affiliation with the State Association concerning such beliefs. He/she understand that the State Association is a tax-exempt organization and as such, must avoid partisan politics.

The Competition Support Specialist must receive prior and written approval from the Chief Executive Officer to conduct or be on the staff of any soccer or athletic camp.

The Competition Support Specialist must receive prior and written approval from the Chief Executive Officer to enter into any soccer related venture whether it be for pay or as a volunteer.

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Ability to work in an office environment as well as outdoors at fields/facilities where events are held.
  • Ability to spend extended hours standing or walking
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to work at ASA office during expected office hours as well as nights and weekend availability may be required. Primary workhours and are 8:30a – 5:00p Monday – Friday however, work schedule may be adjusted to support evening and weekend responsibilities.
