LOCATION: BROOKINGS, SD

Brookings Futbol Club/SELECT, “Club” seeks a motivated, inspiring and dedicated leader to become the Club’s part time Director of Coaching (“DOC”). The candidate should be a leader, educator and have a “player first” philosophy and the ability to work well with coaches and others. The DOC will serve as the face of the program and be a great ambassador for the club and community. This candidate should have a passion to lead a non-profit community soccer club, be a person that cares about the club, its players and community, and strives to develop players to their highest desired level.

About Brookings Futbol Club “BFC”:

BFC/SELECT is a growing, community-based soccer Club located in Brookings, South Dakota. This organization offers several youth programs, such as Little Kicks/Skills School, recreational league and a year-round competitive option. Currently the Club has over 900 kids involved in these programs.

Desired Qualifications:

• Minimum USSF C license or United Soccer Coaches National Diploma equivalent or higher is preferred.

• College level playing experience is preferred.

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• Minimum of 3 years of coaching experience at the youth level.

• Demonstrate teamwork and ability to work in an office environment.

• Experience with overseeing recreational and competitive soccer programs.

• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to host meetings and talk to large groups.

• Clear knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

The Director of Coaching (DOC) runs the day to day soccer operations of BFC/SELECT. This position assists the Board of Directors with strategic planning, coach management/evaluation, team formation and the Club’s overall technical direction, with a particular emphasis on youth player development. The DOC will create and implement an overall technical plan that establishes BFC/SELECT’s commitment to the development of its players and coaches, to reach their highest desired potential. This position will provide the direction, so players and coaches have a clear understanding of their development pathway in all programs and maintain a strong commitment to long-term player development. The DOC reports to the Club’s Board of Directors and through the Board President. This position also directs the activities and development of the Club’s coaching staff. The DOC is restricted from performing similar duties for other clubs or organizations without prior written approval from the Board President.

Technical Leadership

• Establish the Club’s overall technical vision and plan in accordance with the Club’s overall mission and vision statement.

• Act as the Club’s chief spokesperson for Club-level technical matters involving South Dakota State Soccer Association and other governing bodies and leagues.

• Recruit, develop and directly manage the Club’s technical staff, including Technical Directors, Age-Group Coordinators, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Volunteer Coaches.

• Identify and directly manage education and development requirements and opportunities for the Club’s coaches.

• Establish partnerships with University, college and professional organizations to develop opportunities for the Club’s players to progress their overall development opportunities. Technical Program Development

• Drive the implementation of the long-term-player-development principles into the Club’s competitive programs, including enhanced training options.

• Develop high performance competitive programs within the Club.

• Establish a pathway that clearly outlines the options available to players and provides the best progression as players develop within the Club’s programs.

• Build on the Club’s existing development (Recreational Program) base to continue to improve and provide quality development opportunities.

• Ensure that advanced training programs are developed for high performing players.

• Adhere to US Youth Soccer Association and South Dakota State Soccer Association playing guidelines.

Off field and Administration Responsibilities and Support:

The DOC will be responsible for all aspects of player and coaching development and oversee soccer activities Club wide. Non-soccer activities such as Club administration, operations, facility maintenance, will primarily be handled by the Board or others to allow the DOC to focus their attention and efforts on soccer decisions and implementation that benefits players and coaches. It is paramount that the DOC and Board of Directors work collectively and collaboratively to develop, improve, maintain and execute the Club’s overall vision, culture, and strategic plan. Offseason can be used for larger or long-term infrastructure improvement efforts.

Off field responsibilities include:

• Advise and assist in the implementation of a Club vision to achieve short and long-term success

• Work inside the annual budget for coaching, training, and equipment to the Board for inclusion in the Club’s annual budget process.

• Advise and assist the Board and Finance Officer on setting the club-wide annual budget to ensure the organization can effectively balance quality, value, and affordability to its membership.

• Be involved in, advise and assist the Board and Planning Committee on maintaining and implementing the Club’s strategic plan.

• Oversee or manage the Club calendar for planning and scheduling of training, games, tournaments; work closely with club admin/operations manager to facilitate effective communication of the calendar and schedule.

• Keep all player, coach, and team development records, documents/manuals current.

• Attend monthly Board Meetings and hold coaching meetings as needed.

• Assist in the development, execution, and evaluations of all Club programs.

• Ability to connect with and work with travel and recreational coaches.

• Advise and assist in the design and implementation of a parent education program including parent meetings and handouts.

• Advise and assist the board in promoting the Club within the community and help with public relations with schools, youth or civic organization where applicable.

• Plan, organize and implement any process or infrastructure development projects assigned by the Board that deems applicable to the DOC position (i.e. documentation, guides, process, etc. that improve players, coaches and the club).

Compensation: Salary is competitive and will depend on experience for this part time position. Incentive opportunities, such as camps, are also available. Ability to coach a team(s) is available as well.
