The Watertown Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) is seeking a highly motivated soccer subject matter expert to fill the Director of Coaching (DOC) position for our soccer program. The DOC will report to the WYSA Board of Directors and work hand in hand with them to continue developing the WYSA soccer program in Watertown, SD.
Qualifications
• Must possess a USSF "C" coaching license as a minimum, a national Youth Coaching license, USSF "B” license or higher credentials preferred.
• Eight or more years of youth coaching experience preferred.
• Playing experience that demonstrates strong skills and soccer knowledge, professional or college level highly desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to develop coaches and players plus designing educational programs to enhance the development of the game.
• Previous experience as a Director of Coaching highly desired.
• Strong leadership and management skills that include the following:
• Ability to organize and execute multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities simultaneously.
• Experience managing coaching staff and support personnel.
• Possess excellent verbal, phone and written communication skills.
• Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including weekend events and be willing to travel as needed.
Responsibilities
DOC shall oversee all WYSA programs- Academy, Recreational and Competitive, to enhance player development while educating coaches, players, and parents. DOC shall work to bridge the gap between the Recreational and Competitive programs to aid in growing the club.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Establish training curriculum for all programs appropriate for the age levels.
• Establish training curriculum that builds upon itself from one age level to the next.
• Establish and maintain Coach training curriculum to ensure WYSA Coaches are continually learning and growing.
• Player and coach retention
• Further develop WYSA player/club philosophies
• Select tournaments for the Competitive program.
• Provide training for Recreational Soccer Coaches prior to each season.
• Aid in selecting Coaches for all programs.
• Coach at least two teams – one U13 and one U9/10
• Maintain Coaching certifications
• Provide Coaching and Player evaluations
• First step in mediating parent/player/coaching conflicts.
• Represent WYSA at SD Soccer Association meetings/functions.
• Hold 2 Training Camps per year.
• Educate parents on WYSA’s philosophies on player development and age-appropriate activities.
• Actively involved with player petitions for playing up an age group.
• Evaluate current programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
