The member clubs have 20,000+ youth players who enjoy playing the beautiful game of soccer from ages of 5U to 19U; and from skill levels of Recreational to the USYS National League. The players represent a diverse group from all socioeconomic, ethnic, nationality, and religious backgrounds. The leagues for players 12U and younger are sanctioned by SCYSA but managed independently by several member clubs at the local level.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSTION NOW OPEN

 

The South Carolina Youth Soccer Association (“SCYSA”) administers statewide leagues in the state of South Carolina for the benefit of its 55-club membership.  The member clubs have 20,000 youth players who enjoy playing the beautiful game of soccer from ages of 5U to 19U; and from skill levels of Recreational to the USYS National League. The players represent a diverse group from all socioeconomic, ethnic, nationality, and religious backgrounds. The leagues for players 12U and younger are sanctioned by SCYSA but managed independently by several member clubs at the local level.

Our Staff

The South Carolina Youth Soccer Association currently has a staff of three full-time employees: an office administrator/bookkeeper, register, and special projects/event coordinator. There are also two contract employees, a technical director and a social media coordinator.

The Executive Director

SCYSA’s next Executive Director needs to be a solutions-oriented leader, good communicator, detail planner, and proactive manager with a strong work ethic and full transparency. The ideal candidate is approachable and highly committed to working with a “policy” Board of Directors.

More than any other quality, the next Executive Director is a well-rounded, working manager. With a small staff, the Executive Director must be able to step in to help. This person must have strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to energize, develop, and empower the SCYSA’s employees without micromanaging them. They will be fiscally conservative, with good business sense, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a skillset for building relationships.  Collaboration and the ability to optimize relationships will be important.

The successful candidate is a strategic and tactical thinker, who sees SCYSA’s potential and has the experience, energy, and commitment to lead SCYSA’s long-term vision.
