Description:

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the strategic development, execution and measurement of all internal (member-based) and external (endemic and non-endemic) communication activities of the organization.

Specific duties;
- Assists the Marketing and Communications staff with various constituencies i.e., State Associations, national programs (National Championship Series, Olympic Development Program, TOPSoccer, etc.), and event organizers on all public relations activities.
- Manage website and all web related activities including html newsletters and email databases
- Manage social networking efforts on a daily basis
- Write press releases, advertising, game day and program copy, brochures and other items as necessary
- Source, update and maintain mailing lists for programs and events
- Manage selected on-site event communications
- Assist in the compilation of overview reports
- Assist in the management of press release mailings and newsletters through all channels
- Prepare weekly informational and statistical releases
- Provide research assistance to the staff and membership
- Provide assistance, technical and educational to member associations
- Assist in communications of event operations and public relations activities to appropriate staff
- Other duties as required and assigned

Internal/ member based
- In partnership with the Marketing and Communications staff, assist in the development of the organization’s internal public relations strategy and system of measure
- Assist in writing all member-based promotional materials including but not limited to monthly electronic newsletters
- Establish working relationships with member state associations/clubs to assist in communications and best practices
- Serve as first point of contact for calls and requests, handling appropriate call and providing proper US Youth Soccer contact to respond to more in-depth questions

External/ general public
In partnership with the Marketing and Communications staff, assist in the development of the organization’s external public relations strategy and system of measure
- Assist in writing and distribution of all organization-based press releases including major events, initiatives and programs
- Serve as first point of contact for media calls and requests, handling appropriate calls and providing proper US Youth Soccer contact to respond to more in-depth questions

Required skills, education and experience;
- One to three years of communications/public relations experience
- Superior oral and written communication skills as well as strong copy editing and proofreading skills
- Strong understanding of AP style
- Ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team; self-starter
- Willingness to travel and work on weekends a must
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, communications
- Knowledge of soccer (participation or prior job) preferred
- Basic Adobe Products skill preferred

The position will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager in the headquarters of US Youth Soccer in Frisco, TX.  No relocation will be offered to Frisco.
