Description:

Established in 1979, Eastside FC (“ESFC”) is a 501c-3, non-profit soccer club, cultivating the mental and physical growth & development of youth soccer players in Southeast Michigan. Eastside FC programs offer something for every skill and commitment level. The collective goal of Eastside FC is to foster participation in the game, develop participants, and ensure that youth soccer continues to thrive in our community.

ESFC Select teams and players are developed in line with our club philosophy; "Possession based, fast attacking soccer with a focus on individual development”.  Our teams play purposeful possession soccer, without fear of failure. Our coaches promote and develop skill, intelligence, and decision-making across all ages.

  • ESFC teams will retain possession by passing, dribbling, and moving quickly to build-up & score
  • When pressured, our teams are encouraged to 'play' their way out of trouble
  • When we lose the ball, we will regain possession as early as appropriate
  • Upon regaining possession, we will counter-attack or retain to score

Club Location: Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

Training Facility:  MAC Athletic Complex

Hours

Various hours. Candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends in order to facilitate training sessions and coach games.  Candidate will be required to attend travel tournaments and facilitate Youth Academy camps and clinics

Start Date

Commencing August 2019.

Job Purpose

Coach 2-3 Teams. Support Director of Coaching (“DOC”) in delivery of Coaching Curriculum, ensuring consistent messaging, and promote club in local community

Salary

Varies by qualifications and experience level of candidate

Desired Qualifications/

Experience

  • USSF D Licence or Above
  • One or more years of experience coaching in a youth select soccer environment
  • One or more years of playing experience (Preferred)

 

 

Primary Duties

1

Planning and implementing a range of innovative coaching sessions and programs

Coach in accordance with Eastside FC coaching philosophy, coaching curriculum and individual development models

3

Produce accurate assessments and reports on each player’s progress  via player reviews/formal evaluations

Organise games schedules, team meetings, and Individual Learning Plans.  Experience with team communication tools, such as Team Snap and organizational tools, such as Google Docs is a plus.

Identify the needs of individual players/teams and tailor your delivery as appropriate

Support delivery of Curriculum by following game-style, systems of play and structure and as instructed by DOC, ensuring messages are consistent across teams.

Assist in promoting and delivering high quality training sessions for Eastside Youth Academy programs as required

Act as an ambassador for Eastside FC at all times by being open to discussions with parents players and potential players. Remain up to date on Eastside FC programs.

Develop ideas to improve ‘Player Retention’ and ‘Player Recruitment’

To attend training courses and continuing professional development sessions as and when required

 

Additional Duties

  • Maintain open lines of communication with team(s) via TeamSnap, or similar software, in coordination with Team Manager(s)
  • Organise Team Bonding Sessions in coordination with Team Manager(s)
  • Think innovatively on how you can improve team(s) physical development & conditioning
  • Attend practices and events at least 30mins early as standard
  • Provide DOC with up-to-date information on parent, coach & player events
  • Be available to cover practices / games for other teams when necessary
  • Build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, maintaining a professional image at all times when representing Eastside FC
  • To keep confidential any information gained regarding the Club and its personnel
  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time
  • Report to the DOC regularly on how well your programs are developing
