Soccer in the Streets - Chief Storyteller

Our work breaking down these barriers is filled with moments of joy, struggle, resilience and hope. We’re looking for a Chief Storyteller to tell these stories and help ignite the change Atlanta’s communities desperately need. We change kids’ lives. Can you?

Chief Storyteller will join our tight knit team of change-makers striving to level the playing field for all youth. They will have three primary responsibilities:

CONNECT:
Develop rich, meaningful relationships with Soccer in the Streets’ players, families and communities. Understand Soccer in the Streets’ impact and relate it to varied external and internal audiences.

CREATE:
Develop clear, compelling narratives through images, audio, video and text that highlight our work and raise the voices of our stakeholders. Extend these narratives through physical collateral such as t-shirts, flyers and merchandise.

SHARE:
Share Soccer in the Streets’ stories through our various channels. Manage our media relationships and develop communications plans and calendars.
Stories are the engines that propel our organization forward. In order to tell our stories and be a force for change, our Chief Storyteller should have the following skills and experience


Content Skills

  • Understanding of story fundamentals (characters, trajectory, hook, calls to action)
  • Keen sense of what makes a story interesting from an audience’s perspective
  • Strong interviewing skills; how to ask effective questions, develop rapport with subjects
  • Storyboarding experience; understanding effectiveness of text, images, audio, video

Technical Skills

  • Ability to create compelling audio and visual content with commonly used tools
  • Superb written, grammatical and proofreading skills
  • Ability to design and maintain a database of stories and assets
  • Experience with content management systems for web, newsletters and social media
  • Experience using analytics and social media monitoring/measurement tools
  • Comfort and experience using basic editing software a plus
  • Working knowledge of intermediate-level equipment (DSLR camera, audio recorder, microphones) a plus

Experience

  • 3 years experience working in content creation
  • Proven ability to create content with/for urban communities
  • Knowledge of sport-based youth development a plus
  • Connection to local soccer community a plus

Chief Storyteller will report directly to the VP - Development and work closely with both the Director of Programs and the Director of Leadership and Outcomes. Primary deliverables will
be:

  • Define and implement storytelling strategy with goals and accountabilities
  • Monthly blog posts
  • Ownership of social media calendar and content
  • Up to date database of story assets (audio, visual, written)
  • Creation of audio, visual and/or written content for major and special events
  • Compensation and Benefits
  • Full time position, involves evenings and weekends
  • Salary: $40,000 - $45,000/year based on experience
  • Vacation: 15 company days plus 10 personal days
  • Health insurance and 401k
  • Based in Atlanta (office is downtown)
  • Car and valid driving license is required
