JOB TITLE:  Director of Coaching and Player Development 
 
REPORTS TO:  Technical Director
 
JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Coaching and Player Development (DOCPD) will assist in the development, management and operation of all events and programs related to the development of players across the state and the education and training of coaches. As a key member of the technical staff, the DOCPD reports directly to the Technical Director and helps with establishing policies that promote player, coach and club development that align with UYSA’s overall mission. 
 
DIRECTOR OF COACHING AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Coaching Education/Player Development
Management of all Coaching Education Programs including acting as the UYSA liaison with U.S. Soccer 
  • Manage the State Educational Staff, including course assignments 
  • Instruct, lead, and mentor a min of 25 Grassroots courses throughout the year
  • Be the Lead Educator on a min of 2 D Licenses throughout the year 
  • Establish a mentorship program for our State Educational Staff – meet 4 times min per year 
  • Work directly with the Technical Department Manager to schedule educational programs for both players and coaches throughout the state
  • Work directly with the Technical Department Manager to schedule GR and D License courses throughout the state
  • Assist in the development of UYSA Continued Educational Units
  • Serve as the lead instructor and coordinator of instruction, for all state level clinics as per guidelines from U.S. Soccer and USYS.  Promote attendance at all clinics
  • Review, update and develop state coaching courses to meet the needs of programs within the state association consistent with the philosophies and intent of U.S. Soccer, US Youth Soccer, and UYSA
TOSH State Select/SU TOSH Select (ODP)
  • Assist in the management of the TOSH State Select (ODP) – Including staff assignments, curriculum, and schedule 
  • Assist in the observation and evaluation of TOSH State Select (ODP) Coaching Staff as they conduct tryouts, train, and coach their respective State team
  • Assist with the implementation of SU TOSH Select (Southern Utah ODP) – programing to enhance the experience based on the environment 
  • When needed, assist in the observation and evaluation of SU TOSH Coaching Staff as they conduct tryouts, train, and coach their respective State team
  • Attend the West Region ODP Championships – help support, lead, and guide coaches throughout the tournament 
  • Work with the Technical Director and the Technical Department manager to assist with the logistics of the West Region ODP Championships
General 
  • Assist member clubs with the development of their Club Development Plans – including feedback and guidance were needed 
  • Communicate directly with membership (as directed by the Technical Director) on what their needs are and what we can do to support them
  • Assist with the growth and development of UYSA USL 2 team and UPSL U19 team – Salt City SC
  • Work with the Grassroots Coordinator when needed to help in growth of recreational membership
  • Plan and the implementation of coaching symposiums including at the General Business Meetings (AGM)
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programming to retain and grow membership
  • Provide support and direction to staff at UYSA events and programs
  • Interface with membership to assess needs, collect feedback and improve relationships
  • When needed represent Utah at regional and national events
Special Skills 
  • Must have extensive knowledge of FIFA Laws of the Game, US Youth and Utah Youth Soccer policies and procedures
  • Must have extensive knowledge of U.S. Soccer’s Digital Learning Center
  • Must have the ability to organize and execute multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities simultaneously
  • Must be able to work with many different groups and personalities to problem solve and troubleshoot issues and opportunities  
  • Aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving in pressure situations
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and public speaking skills, both practiced and impromptu
  • Must be organized and possess excellent verbal, phone, and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must be able to work flexible hours including weekend events and be willing to travel as needed or directed by the UYSA Technical Director
  • Employee will be required to work in the UYSA offices in Sandy, Utah   
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSING:
  • USSF A License
  • USSF Grassroots Instructor License/ Educator License – with the ability to instruct Grassroots and D Licenses
  • National Youth License
  • Three years of sport management related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

SCHEDULE: 
This job is not a remote position and employee will be required to work out of the Sandy, Utah office
