ODP East ID Camp

General

2020 Camp Dates | Rider University, NJ

The 5-day residential ODP East ID Camp is a unique opportunity for invited players to train and compete with the top players in the East and trained by high level licensed coaches. Players will also have the opportunity to be identified for future ODP East events.

  • Boys ID Camp: July 6 - 10, 2020 | 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 
  • Girls ID Camp: July 12 - 16, 2020 | 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
  • To be eligible for the ODP East ID Camps, you must receive an invitational letter from ODP East Region.

ID Camp Payments
The ID Camp fee includes: safe quality housing and meals in a dorm setting, training and classroom sessions in state of-the-art facilities, coaching and administrative staff and certified athletic trainers.

Dorm Room Information

  • All players will be staying in dorm rooms on campus.
  • Every dorm room includes:
    • (1) player per bed
    • shared bathroom, living and study areas
  • If a player loses his/her room key, they will be responsible for the $50  replacement fee prior to leaving ID Camp.
  • Players will also be responsible for any room damage assessed by both Rider University and the East Region and will be invoiced accordingly.
     

Meal Information

  • Players will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner except on arrival and departure days.
    • Arrival Day: Dinner Only
    • Departure Day: Breakfast Only
  • We will provide a list of player allergies and/or preferences that have been documented in the electronic player releases to the Rider University food services.
  • During ID Camp if a player with an allergy and/or preference is unsure of what they can eat, they should request to speak to a chef or ask an ID Camp administrator to assist them.
  • In order to accommodate the "nut allergies" the chefs have removed items with peanuts and other nuts from the menu where possible in order to minimize any exposure. Items like peanut butter for toast, nut topping at the ice cream station, peanut butter cookies, turtle brownies ect. were changed or removed.

Packing List

Please pack your soccer gear in your carry-on luggage if you are flying. You may bring your full size soccer bag or a smaller one that meets the airline's carry-on size specification.

  • Nike is the official apparel of the Olympic Development Program. As such, all soccer gear must be Nike or unbranded; however, please note any logo other than Nike simply MUST NOT be visible (exceptions include: cleats/running shoes, GK gloves and soccer bags).
  • Players need to bring:
    • (Regular twin) bedding or sleeping bag and pillow

Laundry service are available on campus.  East Region will not be responsible for washing personal items, so please pack accordingly.

ID Camp Schedule Format
Except on arrival and departure days the ID Camp will consist of:

  • (2) field sessions per day
  • (1) classroom and/or presentation per day
  • (2) individual and/or team meeting per day
  • Recovery and/or regeneration scheduled accordingly

FAQ's

Q: What is included in the ID Camp fee?

A: The fee of the 5-day residential ID Camp  includes safe quality housing and meals in a dorm setting, training and classroom sessions in state of-the-art facilities, coaching and administrative staff, certified athletic trainers and (2)  tshirts. Players will train and compete with the top players in the East Region and will be trained by high level licensed coaches, including exposure to college coaches. Players will also have the opportunity to be identified for future ODP East Region events.


Q: Is transportation provided to/from ID Camp?

A: Transportation is not provided to camp by East Region. You are responsible for your own travel arrangements to and from Rider University.


Q: Can parents watch players train or play?

 

A: The East Region appreciates when families support our program and players; however, family members will not be allowed in dorms, meals, meetings or any team function scheduled. Parents can watch Training and Games at the field.


Q: Where will the players be staying while they are at ID Camp?

A: All players will be staying in the Rider University dorm rooms while on campus. Per our packing list, please ensure all players bring their own bedding, pillows and towels as they will not be provided.


Q: What are the dorms like?

A: Each dorm room includes one player per bed, shared bathroom, living space and study areas.


Q: Where will the players be training?

A: All training will be held at Rider University on their campus fields.


Q: How often will players train?

A: Players will train twice (2) a day, except for arrival and departure days. Each training session will last approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours.


Q: Will players be training and competing with players from their state?

A: Players will have the opportunity to train and compete with and among the top players in the East Region in a scramble format. This unique experience allows for players to progress and develop their skill sets in a competitive environment for the next level.


Q: Are the fields grass or turf?

A: Rider University has grass fields with 1 stadium turf field.


Q: Who are the Regional Staff Coaches?

A: The ODP Regional coaching staff are some of the top high level licensed coaches, including college coaches, within the East Region.


Q: Will there be college coaches there?

A: Yes.  Many of the Regional staff coaches are current college coaches.


Q: What type of supervision is provided for the players during ID Camp?

A:  All activities on and off the field are supervised by our administrative staff. Each age group will have their own lead administrator, along with additional staff members that will ensure all players are supervised. Both coaching and administrative staff stay in the dorms with the players. Campus security will be present and monitoring our high access areas for added security.


Q: What do the classroom sessions consist of?

A: Classroom sessions and/or presentations, may consist of, but not limited to: sports performance, nutrition, sports psychologist, college coach panel and video analysis.


Q: If a player has a food allergy will there be alternative options for them?

A: Yes, you will be required to complete an electronic medical and liability release prior to attending ID Camp. This online form allows you to communicate any allergies for our staff, which includes our certified Athletic Trainers as well as Rider University food services. 


Q: What if players cannot make it the entire time? Can players arrive late or leave early?

A:  Invited players are expected to arrive rested, on time and stay for the duration of the ID Camp. Players who do not attend the entire event will not receive the same training and development experiences as well as being fairly evaluated by our Regional coaching staff for identification to future ODP East Region events.


Q: What if players cannot attend ID Camp. Can players still be considered for the ODP East Region Pool?

A: To be considered for the ODP East Region Pool, players must attend ID Camp; however, if an invited player is injured or sustains an injury prior to the start of ID Camp, the player will be considered and listed as an injured reserve with proper medical documentation.


Q: What if players get injured before or during ID Camp?

A: If an invited player sustains an injury before ID Camp, please notify us immediately and provide medical documentation regarding the injury. Medically excused players will be considered for the ODP East Region pool and listed as an injured reserve. If you sustain an injury during ID Camp, our certified Athletic Trainers will be available on and off the field to assess any potential injuries and/or illness. Depending on the severity of the injury and/or illness the player may be taken to a local clinic or ER for further assessment by one of our administrative staff who will notify you. We will follow the US Youth Soccer Concussion Protocol for any player who displays signs and symptoms of a concussion. For more information see USYS Concussion Protocol [LINK].


Q: How will players receive communication on a daily basis?

A: During the event, Adminstrators, Chaperones and Coaches will communicate daily schedules, weather/field updates, daily training gear colors and laundry schedule. 

Q: What happens after ID Camp?

A: Final player pools for the upcoming 2020-2021 US Youth Soccer ODP East Region cycle will be posted by the first week of August. Players listed will be eligible for further selection to ODP East Region event opportunities that typically occur during November, December and January. Players will receive a general informational email outlining the event opportunities post-ID Camp.  

 

Q: What is the refund policy once I register?

A: Refunds: Once you commit to attending, you will only be eligible for a refund if you are injured. If you are injured, US Youth Soccer West Region will refund your cost for the event based on the refund schedule, minus the processing fee. US Youth Soccer West Region will not refund your airfare purchased for this event. Those players who are injured will need to submit documentation from their physician regarding their specific injury that prohibits them from participating.

Refund Schedule:

28 days to 22 days from the player’s arrival date: 75% of the ODP Camp cost

21 days to 15 days from the player’s arrival date: 50% of the ODP Camp cost

14 days to 8 days from the player’s arrival date: 25% of the ODP Camp cost

7 days to 0 days from the player’s arrival date: 0% of the ODP Camp cost
