What is the Eastern Regional League?
The Eastern Regional League is offered by the US Youth Soccer East Region for the teams in the New England and Mid-Atlantic states seeking a higher level of play.
The league is open to teams registered with US Youth Soccer via their state association providing an opportunity for teams to play meaningful games against teams from around the East Region. The league offers play for U13-U19 boys and girls. There are up to three levels of play - The Elite Division is the top level of competition, Premier Division is the middle level of play, while the final level of play is the Championship Division.
The Eastern Regional League is a qualifying league for the US Youth Soccer National League and the Eastern Regional Championships. The league has a predetermined number of automatic qualifying spots in each age group in both competitions.
The Eastern Regional League utilizes promotion-relegation between the divisions. To qualify for the Elite Division teams must have participated in the Eastern Regional League the previous year or finish as champion or finalist in the Eastern Regional Championships the prior year.
The Eastern Regional League accepts and schedules only 16 teams into the Elite Division, unless the league commission determines otherwise. The Premier and Championship Divisions accept and schedule up to 32 teams.
The Eastern Regional League utilizes self-scheduling to provide the teams scheduling flexibility.
