ST. LOUIS (Nov. 10, 2018) -- The 2018 US Youth Soccer National League Midwest Conference Girls Fall Showcase continued Saturday at the Creve Coeur Soccer Complex and Lou Fusz Soccer Complex in St. Louis.

More than 130 Midwest Conference teams, including all Premier I and Premier II Division girls teams in the 15U through 19U age groups, are competing in some of the final games of their fall season at the event.

The environment at the showcase provides a good opportunity for player evaluation, and more than 75 college coaches have been on hand for the first two days of action in St. Louis.

“Everyone out here is playing for something, and there is a lot of value to the games,” said Kirk Nelson, Associate Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Missouri State University. “It’s not just a showcase where they’re coming to play games just to play games. The teams are trying to gain league standing. The games are intense and the quality is very high. I’ve seen quite a few players who have caught my eye.”

The 15U Premier I Division featured one of the marquee matches of the day, as two teams with perfect records — SC Waukesha 04 Girls Blue (WI) and SLSG 2004 Elite (MO) — met to determine who would remain on top of the standings.

SC Waukesha earned a 2-0 win in the game to move to 8-0-0 on the season. The Wisconsin side’s coach, Giuliano Oliviero, said he was happy with his players’ performance and the valuable experience they gained in such an impactful game.

“There’s nothing more we wanted than two first-place teams battling it out. SLSG has a great team, and our girls really showed they wanted this today,” Oliviero said. “You know it’s going to be a high-level game for the college coaches to come and watch. For us, the girls are in a crucial time in developing as players and knowing how to play in important games.”

Note: Several 4 p.m. matches were terminated due to unplayable field conditions. Some 6 p.m. match times were pushed back and may not have concluded at the time of publishing this recap.
