FRISCO, Texas (September 29, 2016) – The first of two US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League (MRL) showcase weekends will take place on Saturday, October 8 through Monday, October 10 at the Mercy Sportscore II complex in Rockford, Ill.

A total of 80 Premier I and II girls teams in the 15U through 18U age groups, who are competing in the MRL’s fall season, will play at the October showcase event. Not only will players have the chance to compete with the top teams in the league, but the showcase weekend will also serve as an opportunity for players to expose their talents in front of college coaches. More information on the showcase can be found here.

The MRL will also host a spring showcase weekend for boys teams on February 18-20, 2017 in Tampa, Fla. Boys teams in the 15U through 19U age groups from all tiers are eligible to participate at the showcase event, and Premier I and II tier teams are guaranteed acceptance into the event. The showcase provides MRL teams with the opportunity to play MRL matches outside of their customary congested spring playing months in April and May.

Team registration for the spring showcase will take place concurrent with the scheduling of the MRL spring season matches. More spring showcase information can be found here.

The MRL provides an opportunity for the most competitive teams in Region II to play each other on a scheduled basis while also competing for placement in the prestigious US Youth Soccer Regional Championships, as well as the highly-competitive US Youth Soccer National League. The showcase weekends will feature over 20 National League teams as well as two 2016 US Youth Soccer National Champions. Nationals Union 02 (MI) took home the 14U Girls National Championships title, and Midwest United FC 01 Royal (MI) captured the 15U Girls title in Frisco, Texas, this past July.

The National League is an extension of the highly successful US Youth Soccer Regional Leagues (Region I Eastern Regional League, Region II Midwest Regional League, Region III Southern Regional Premier League and Region IV Far West Regional League). Each league provides the best localized matchups and an opportunity for advancement to play at the national level – giving players great opportunities for development while offering college coaches a chance to see the top players in the region compete in meaningful games.
