As of March 20, 2020, the NCAA continues to closely monitor COVID-19 and is taking proactive measures to mitigate the potential impact of the virus. When it comes to decision-making, our commitment is this: protect the health and safety of college athletes.
Please note the following:
• NCAA Divisions I and II have adopted emergency legislation to establish a temporary recruiting dead period in all NCAA sports, effective immediately and continuing through April 15, at which time the situation will be re-evaluated. During a dead period, all Division I and II coaches are restricted from recruiting activities, on and off campus. More information about recruiting periods can be found at: ncaa.org/student-athletes/future/recruiting.
• The NCAA Division I Council Committee has recommended that eligibility relief be provided to all student-athletes who participate in spring sports. The NCAA Division II and Division III Administrative Committees also announced Friday that they plan to extend the eligibility for student-athletes in spring sports. The NCAA said Friday in a statement: “Details of eligibility relief will be finalized at a later time. Additional issues with NCAA rules must be addressed, and appropriate governance bodies will work through those in the coming days and week.”
We understand these unparalleled circumstances are creating challenges to all involved in college and youth athletics. As such, we are committed to providing timely information and will communicate with you once new information becomes available.
