Ohio South's James Martella honored at Awards Gala
Louisville, Ky. (Feb. 25, 2011) –
The 2010 US Youth Soccer Administrator of the Year award recipient was announced tonight at the US Youth Soccer Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2011 US Youth Soccer Workshop at the Marriott Downtown Louisville. The national US Youth Soccer Administrator of the Year award winner is James Martella of Milford, Ohio.
Hilary Kennedy, host of The US Youth Soccer Show on Fox Soccer Channel, set the stage for the night as the master of ceremonies for the more than 1,000 in attendance.
Boys and Girls Recreation
Coaches of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Goal and Save of the Year, Male and Female Young Referees of the Year, TOPSoccer Buddy of the Year and the Dr. Thomas Fleck Award were also presented during the Gala and the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame inductees were honored as well.
For nearly 40 years, James Martella has been a dedicated administrator who progressed within US Youth Soccer, taking on greater responsibilities while also upholding the highest standards and level of integrity to grow the game. First acting as his son's recreational coach in 1973, he has since been a local league treasure and president, the Ohio South Youth Soccer Association president (1985-1988 and 2011-present) and executive director (1988-2010), the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships chairman (1992-1998) and the US Youth Soccer National Championships chairman (1998-present).
The recipient of the Administrator of the Year award is selected by the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors. The Administrator of the Year Award honors the extraordinary accomplishments in administration over a career.
