June 29, 2023 05:00 PM

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (June 29, 2023) - More than 240 teams competed June 23-29 at the Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Games were played at Our Lady of the Lake Fields at Burbank Soccer Park with a trip to the National Championships on the line.
Floridian teams had the best week of the South's State Associations, with six champions crowned in Baton Rouge. North Texas (2), Tennessee (2), Louisiana (1), South Texas (1), Mississippi (1), and Arkansas (1) had championship-winning sides, too.
Wesley Noble, head coach of Mississippi Rush United 2008 Premier (MS), talked about what the 2023 US Youth Soccer Southern Regional Championship experience means to his team.
"It helps the team grow as a group, said Noble. “It shows them what the competition level is like and how to compete day after day with six games in seven days."
Noble also shared his thoughts on what US Youth Soccer has done to give his girls the opportunity to develop.
"Playing at this level helps the girls tremendously, said Noble. We qualified for Nationals through National League P.R.O. and to come here and be able to get these games and play so many good teams.
