FRISCO, Texas (Sept. 5, 2017) — US Youth Soccer is excited to announce a new partnership with Sun-Maid that extends through the 2018 season and culminates with the US Youth Soccer National Championship in July.
"Soccer players are always seeking healthier snack choices to power their performance at soccer games or during practice,” US Youth Soccer CEO Chris Moore said. “We at US Youth Soccer couldn't be more excited about partnering with Sun-Maid Raisins to provide nutritious, tasty raisin snacks to soccer players, siblings and families at our regional and national events."
Delicious raisins deliver an excellent half-time energy boost using nothing but grapes and sunshine. A 2012 study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition showed “…raisins provide the same workout boost as sports chews, at the fraction of the cost – while also delivering important nutrients. Unlike artificial chews, raisins contribute to the daily intake of potassium and fiber and provide a host of health protective compounds, with no added sugar, flavoring or color.”
“Kids love raisins and soccer,” said Sun-Maid VP of Marketing Rich Paumen. “Parents appreciate healthy snacks that help give their athletes the energy to finish the game strong.”
“Soccer provides exercise, excitement and the friendship of teammates,“ he continued. “As a company, we’re committed to children’s health, nutrition and fitness. And everyone wins with exercise and good nutrition.”
This partnership with US Youth Soccer will help Sun-Maid, a longtime supporter of health and fitness and local events like the Runner’s World Half Marathon, increase awareness and youth participation in what is now America’s fastest growing sport.
