National Presidents Cup Champions Crowned in Wichita

Event Photos | Highlights & Videos

Wichita, Kan. (July 16, 2024) – After a thrilling week of action, fourteen teams claimed US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup titles at the Scheels Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan.

More than 4,500 spectators were on hand in the Sunflower State to take in the last moments of this year’s Presidents Cup, presented by SpringHill Suites by Marriott, with multiple thrilling final matches providing a fitting ending to a campaign that started last fall.

One final – the 17U Boys – was a rematch from the Eastern Presidents Cup championship just last month. Deptford Premier FC ’07 Boys (NJ), who finished as finalists in Charleston, W.Va., reversed that outcome this week in a nail-biting match against SAC Boys 2007 – Premier Blue (MD) that went all the way to penalty kicks – with fourteen rounds needed to separate the two sides.

Illinois was the lone State Association to have two title-winning teams, while Cal South, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, and West Virginia each had one.

In a week full of sunshine, one of US Youth Soccer’s signature events left those in attendance with memories to last a lifetime during its golden anniversary.

Regional Presidents Cups Come to a Close, Set Stage for Next Month’s National Finals

Event Photos | Highlights & Videos

FRISCO, Texas (June 19, 2024) – A week of high stakes matches is now in the books, marking the end of US Youth Soccer’s Regional Presidents Cup, presented by Springhill Suites.

In what can be considered the start of an action packed summer schedule for USYS, more than 580 teams competed in their respective regional events all throughout the country the last few days – notably in Charleston & Barboursville, W.Va., Sioux Falls, S.D., Plano, Texas, and Salt Lake City.

Teams had their sights set on advancing to the National Presidents Cup in Wichita, Kan., later this summer with a chance to claim the cup.

One of the unique aspects of Presidents Cup is the year-long journey that it puts teams on to reach this stage. Teams are given the opportunity to compete at three different levels – State, Regional, and National – to claim their rightful spot as champions. Jeff Wolford, head coach of Hulmeville Demons 2011 (Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer), shared how he was able to get his team to buy in and continue their journey.

“Before I could build a team, I had to build individuals, so I remind them constantly that they’re a part of this team,” said Wolford. “Everybody has their own role and if they can all do their own role and do their job, then we’re going to continue to play.”

Each region had 26 teams qualify for the national event, with 25 different State Associations represented, showcasing the depth of talent across the United States and a desire to participate in one of USYS’ signature events, just one year after Presidents Cup celebrated its 15th anniversary. Of State Associations with multiple winning teams, Illinois led the way with 6, followed by Eastern Pennsylvania (5), Idaho (4), Oklahoma (4), Maryland (3), Montana (3), South Texas (3), Utah (3), Wisconsin (3), Florida (2), Louisiana (2), Michigan (2), New Jersey (2), and West Virginia (2).

While teams celebrated their achievements this week, those advancing will pivot quickly and begin preparation for National Presidents Cup – set to kick off July 12. “We’re glad we were able to get the job done,” said Ella Credille of Tupelo FC 2010 Girls (MS). “Our coach has always told us about quality and effort, and that’s the main thing we were able to focus on when we went into this. Even though this was a good stage to perform on, we’re going to bring it to a higher level.”

There will be much to recognize in 2024, whether it be the newly-crowned champions of Presidents Cup and our National Championships or USYS’ anniversary. As the calendar gets ready to flip, US Youth Soccer is excited to embark on a year-round celebration commemorating its 50 years of growing the game by revealing new, branded marks for the landmark.

The 50th anniversary marks include primarily blue and primarily red versions of the shield logo, as well as one where the “50” is gold in a nod to the golden anniversary.

US Youth Soccer was founded in 1974 and features 2.5 million players participating annually. Its mission is “To provide world-class support, resources, and leadership, helping every member fulfill their goals on and off the field of play.”

USYS also unveiled a campaign slogan “It Starts with US | Youth Soccer,” where the “US” serves as a double entendre, representing both the word “us” and the United States portion of the organizational name.

Video reveal of new campaign slogan and 50th-anniversary mark can be found here.

“We are proud to celebrate our 50th anniversary and thank the millions of players who have donned the USYS shield over the last five decades,” said US Youth Soccer CEO Skip Gilbert.

“We recognize those who founded our wonderful organization and the executives at our national office and the State Associations who made — and continue to make — US Youth Soccer what it is today. Most, we want to acknowledge past and present players, coaches, volunteers, parents and family members who are the lifeblood of our organization.”

National Presidents Cup Champions Crowned in Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas (July 11, 2023) – Fourteen champions were crowned Tuesday in Wichita, Kansas, after 104 teams competed at the US Youth Soccer (USYS) National Presidents Cup held at the Stryker Sports Complex from July 7-11.

2023 marked the 15th anniversary of the event and proved a fitting celebration of the year-long journey that more than 5,000 teams began last fall.

Twelve US Youth Soccer State Association’s left Wichita with hardware, after teams from Kansas (2), Utah (2), Eastern Pennsylvania (1), Virginia (1), Ohio (1), Illinois (1), Michigan (1), South Texas (1), Florida (1), Tennessee (1), Cal South (1), and Montana (1) all claimed the cup.

Wichita-based club Kansas Rush Wichita Academy (KS) played the part of local hero in the Sunflower State, with its 16 and under and 17 and under girls etching their name in Presidents Cup history. The 2007 Girls (16U) raised the storied trophy after topping Allegheny Force (PAW) 1-0 on Tuesday, putting the finishing touches on a strong five-game run that included four wins and one draw. The 2006 Girls (17U) left Stryker Sports Complex with the same record as their club counterpart and also ended the week in high spirits after besting Rebel Elite FC (UT) 1-0 in a close final match.

Adam Hunter, head coach of Kansas Rush Wichita Academy 06G (KS), touched on what it meant for his club to play — and win — in its home city.

“It was really important that the girls showed well at home in front of our community,” Hunter said. “When US Youth Soccer decided that they would host the tournament here in Wichita, our club wanted to be a part of that and we entered as many teams as possible.”

Hunter also gave insight into why his team was so successful during a competitive national event.

“We’ve got a great group of girls who seem to be very close together and they support each other,” he said. “It’s reaffirming to win the game and do it as one together.”

Billings United G2004 Pink PR (MT) — the 19U Girls Champions — came out on top of a penalty-kick shootout in the final match thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Maria Ackerman. Billings United not only left Wichita with their name on the 19U trophy, but also in Treasure State lore after becoming the first team from Montana to win the National Presidents Cup in its 15-year history.

On the boys’ side of the competition, Team America 04 Bata (VA), in its fourth straight year at National Presidents Cup, finally left on top during its last run. Having left Murfreesboro, TN (2019), Des Moines, IA (2021), and Greensboro, NC (2022), empty handed, ‘Bata Nation’ left nothing to chance with a 6-2 win over Havasu Academy 04B (AZ) and let out four years’ worth of celebrations after the final whistle.

Daynor Garcia, head coach of Team America 04 Bata, foreshadowed his team’s success last month at the Eastern Presidents Cup in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

“All these games help,” Garcia said. “It brings our team together, (with) the celebrations, all the memories that we’re gonna have. It’s going to carry our pride over to Nationals.”

Champions Celebrated at the USYS Midwest Presidents Cup

Scores & Standings

WEST CHESTER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (June 20, 2023) – More than 160 teams competed June 16-20 at Midwest Presidents Cup in West Chester Township, Ohio. Games were played at the Voice of America MetroPark Athletic Complex with a trip to National Presidents Cup on the line.

USYS’ Midwest Region, which has 13 State Associations, will send 26 teams to the national competition held July 7-11 in Wichita, Kansas. Teams from Illinois had strong showings this past week and will send the most representatives out of the Midwest’s State Associations with 10 — of which 8 finished as champions.

Michigan (4), Kansas (3), Iowa (2), Indiana (2), Wisconsin (2), Missouri (1), Nebraska (1), and Ohio (1) will also field teams in Wichita later this summer.

Barry McShaw, a parent from BSC Raiders (IL) club, talked about what the 2023 Midwest Presidents Cup meant to him and what the experience was like.

“This is the best event that I have ever been a part of,” McShaw said. “It’s the atmosphere, the referees, the teams. I’ve never been part of an experience like this. Normally when you’re at a high-level event, it can get out of control. This event is very calm, very peaceful, very godlike. From the staff to the referees, I’ve never seen such an organized event, overall it’s just amazing and I feel blessed to be here. This is a top notch competitive-level and even if you feel like your club is on the borderline of being able to compete, I would recommend you to come be apart of it. We will definitely continue to come back here!”
