US Youth Soccer (USYS) commends the recent release of Passing the Torch – Modernizing Olympic, Paralympic, & Grassroots Sports in America, by the Commission on the State of US Olympics and Paralympics. While we will refrain on commenting on any of the 12 recommendations until we have discussed the report in detail with US Soccer Federation leadership, we recognize the thoroughness, comprehensiveness, and thoughtfulness that went into the report.

As the nation’s largest youth sport organization with more than 3 million players, coaches, referees and countless more family members, USYS appreciates the Commission’s suggestions regarding athlete safety, accessibility, and accountability. These are key factors constantly top of mind for US Youth Soccer’s national office and the thousands of dedicated individuals working and volunteering at our 54-member State Associations.
