Regional Champs crowned in Midwest and Far West
FRISCO, Texas (June 26, 2025) — The US Youth Soccer (USYS) Midwest Regional Championships and USYS Far West Regional Championships each concluded Wednesday after a week of thrilling action in Overland Park/Olathe, Kan., and Boise, Idaho, respectively.
Each event saw boys and girls teams in the 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 19U age groups earn Regional Championship titles, as the 24 Regional Championship representatives advanced to the 2025 US Youth Soccer National Championships, presented by New York Life. The National Championships will be played July 22-27 in Orlando, Fla.
The final 24 qualifiers for the National Championships will be determined at the USYS Eastern Regional Championships (Loudoun County, Va.) and USYS Southern Regional Championships (Dallas, Texas), which each kick off later this week.
The US Youth Soccer Regional Championships feature State Cup champions and representatives, as well as qualifiers from The National League’s regular season divisions. This past week’s events in Kansas and Idaho started with a combined 350 high-level teams. The sides that advanced out of group play, and later prevailed in the semifinals and finals, earned Regional Championship titles.
At both events, many of the players and coaches talked about how rare an experience this is and the emotions that it can bring.
“I thought it was a great opportunity for our teams in the Midwest to come here and play,” said Elmbrook United 2012G Elite 64 (WI) goalkeeper Lauren Voelker, who made a key penalty save in her team’s shutout win in the 13U Girls final. “Thankfully, we moved on and now we’re heading to Orlando, so I’m really happy. This is really like a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
At the Midwest Regionals, Illinois led all state associations with three champions, while Kansas followed with two. Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin each had one champion.
Utah led state associations at the Far West Regionals with its six champions. Colorado had two, and Cal South, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Washington each had one champion.
