The Andy Stone Scholarship was set up by the US Youth Soccer South Region to honor the dedication and commitment of Andy Stone, former South Region Director. Andy passed away suddenly in 1998. Any active member of the South Region may apply for the scholarship as per the guidelines in the application.
“In attaining this scholarship it started with work ethic on and off the field. This scholarship has helped me maintain that work ethic in and out of the classroom. It has also taught me to work extremely hard for the goals I have set forth for myself.”
Will Overstreet
2017 Winner“The Andy Stone Scholarship has helped me pay for books and other miscellaneous expenses in college, such as school supplies and remaining academic fees that other scholarships did not pay for. Thank you to US Youth Soccer for this opportunity.”
Mia Graff
2018 Winner“Being chosen to receive the Andy Stone Scholarship has helped in allowing me to continue to follow my soccer aspirations, as well as my academic aspirations. This scholarship helped motivate me to continue to work even harder than I did prior to receiving it. It is humbling and makes me appreciate just how blessed I am to receive this opportunity and to be where I am today. Thank you to all who support me through this journey.”

The memory of Goaziou, who was involved in soccer for more than 25 years as a coach and administrator, is honored with two one-year scholarships in the amount of $1,250 to be awarded to one male and one female attending a post-secondary education institution for the first time in Fall 2024. The scholarships are awarded based on community service and giving back to the game of soccer.
Goaziou served as treasurer of US Youth Soccer and the Florida Youth Soccer Association, as well as chairman of the US Youth Soccer Budget and Olympic Development Program Committees. In 1994 he took office as the U.S. Soccer Federation’s Treasurer and was re-elected three times (1998, 2000 and 2004). Beyond the soccer world, Goaziou also served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.
The 2024 William J. “Billy” Goaziou Scholarship application is now closed.
